在中国,英语作为第二语言进行学习,学生是在课堂里学习语言知识并练习使用语言,走出课堂便很少有这样的机会。因此,外语学习者对课堂的依赖性更大,教师的课堂教学效果对他们学习效果的影响也更大。外语课堂还有一个有别于任何其它课堂的特征:语言既是教学手段,又是教学内容。这就对教师提出了更高要求。教师不仅应熟练掌握目的语,而且应懂得如何通过使用语言而教语言,并能使学生通过使用语言而掌握语言。

小学的英语老师在课上几乎全部用英语组织教学,必要时用中文进行解释。在课堂组织方面,教师基本上可以用规范的语言进行课堂管理,但是,有时还是存在的问题:

一、语音和语调问题

英语教师对英语这一门语言有着一定时间的认识与学习,对于它的发音、连读、弱读、重读、语调等方面也比较熟悉,但在众多环节中,正确掌握语音语调是一个非常重要的环节。

元音的长短、辅音的清浊、单词轻重音,都对判断有直接影响。如,教师在授课过程中,教动物单词mouse/maus/,把语音误读为/məus/,那么学生的读音将会被教师的错误导致语音不准。因此,语音的准确度无论对教师或是学生都是非常重要的。

语调是让话语如同音乐一般地表现在它的变化上。人在说话时可以随意改变音高,使音调上升或下降。他们还可能像歌唱家唱歌那样突然抬高话语的音调。音调上扬或下降的现象就称语调。英语中两种基本的语调是升调与降调:升降的过程可以是急促的,也可以是缓慢的,还可以形成不同的组合。说话人可以通过语调表达各种信息,可以更为准确地表达话语的含义。教师若能巧妙地把语调把握好,那么在上课时就更能抓住学生的心,吸引学生的注意力。如,

对小学生而言,除了课堂 40 分钟,课外很少有机会再次接触英语,即使接触了,也未必能正确判断所用语言的准确性,更不用说会质疑他们所敬佩的英语教师所用语言的准确性了。小学英语教学的主要目的不是教一门外语而是教会孩子如何使用这门语言进行交流,如果说在房屋修建中,搭起“脚手架”是为了支持建房过程,那么在学习英语的过程中,基础知识的扎实度是为了刺激今后更好的学会学习英语。小学英语教学是整个英语教学发展的起点。小学英语教师更是小学英语教学的支撑者。

二、课堂用语的准确性不够

(一)提起注意:在听课过程中发现一些教师屡次对学生们说 Are you OK? 课后才明白这些教师是想表达你们准备好了吗,或者你们完成了吗, 而并非你们好吗。更令人不解的是全班同学也跟着附和 yes, 分析原因,师生这种答非所问的情况不单单是这么一次听课所产生的问题,更多的是平时潜移默化的积累。

(二)新课知识:在听课过程中发现个别老师指着面前的一张照片说

That is a photo. 根本没有把 This is 和 That is 分析清楚。

(三)指令:Leave your seat and walk around the class please! 中式英语的典范。

(四)指导:个别老师在指导过程中竟允许学生用汉字记忆单词。 “如果小时候发音不准, 以后在纠正就难了.” 试想, 英语单词的发音都具有连贯性, 如果我们替代用几个汉字生硬的拼凑出来, 那样的发音可想而知. 如小学生把“Good morning !”注音为“固的毛宁”。可能觉得可笑, 但这就是现状。

三、课堂用语不系统,说话随意性大

新的英语教学大纲中指出:“为了使学生的英语与客观事物建立直接联系,提高英语教学效果,在英语教学中要尽量使用英语。”在观察中,我发现,虽然教师在授课过程中基本使用英语,但是仍然出现一些中文是的英语,例如:“Read together.” “ Give you five minutes to finish the exercise. ”

这些错误的出现与教师自身的英语水平有很大关系。教师除了上课,在日常生活中基本不使用英语,加之该小学是一所重点小学,教学任务比较重,因此,教师在课下几乎没有时间进一步提高自己的英语口语水平。

教师作为人类灵魂的工程师,肩负着培养社会主义建设事业接班人的重任。教师的言行直接影响到教育对象,关系到培养人才的千秋大业。语言作为人与人之间交流思想,表达情感的主要渠道,而教师的课堂教学语言面向的是接受知识和教育的学生,尤其是性格爱好、心理素质都还很不成熟的小学生,教师的教学语言是否得体,不仅会极大地影响到课堂教学效果,对于学生喜欢学习这门功课有着举足轻重的作用,而且对于切实实施素质教育,塑造学生健全的人格,有着不可低估的意义。有学者指出:在新课改的过程中,教师的语言发生了如下变化由指令式的语言向商讨式的语言转变;由评判式的语言向建议式的语言转变;由灌输式的语言向引导式的语言转变;由统一式的语言向开放式的语言转变。

小学阶段是学习英语的重要阶段。尽管他们刚涉及英语,掌握的单词和句型甚少,但我们应该从第一节课起,坚持用英语组织教学。由于这时所学一般都是词义具体的单词和简单句子,教师完全可以借助于直观手段来教,帮助学生尽快对内容的理解。在课堂中教师可以充分运用眼神、手势、动作、表情等形式。以此来培养学生直接理解、直接学习和直接应用英语的习惯,初步形成直接用英语的思维能力。

语言是思维的工具。为了使小学生的思维尽快地与英语联系起来,在英语课堂组织教学中要尽可能使用英语,做到课堂英语化,以排除对母语的依赖和母语的干扰
