Human Diet

Diet is important for our human beings. It sustains our lives, and protects us from infecting diseases. With right diet our body can even help ourselves to repair some damages such as sports injuries or the replacement of dead cells.

In addition to water and air, there are five groups of nutrients that we have to have on a daily basis. Otherwise we would get sick very soon. These are:

(1) Carbohydrates. It is the most important nutrient for us, which is providing over 60% of the energy human body needs. They are commonly contained in flours, rice, potatoes, and maize, etc. They could be decomposed by our stomach and made into glucose, which is a form of sugar, and to be absorbed by our body.

(2) Protein. It is widely existed in the meat, fish, egg, milk, beans, etc. It is the important supply for human beings to grow the cells that form our body tissues and the organs, repair the damaged tissues, and resist the invasion of diseases.

(3) Fat. It has an important biological function for our human beings, and is the main ingredient to store and supply the body with energy. It is indispensable to our cells, neural tissues, hormones, and it protects our internal organs and joints.

(4) Vitamins. They are important to human growth and biological functions. They can be obtained from our daily food, such as fresh vegetables, fruits, livers, yolk, beans, etc. To facilitate the body absorption of vitamins, frequent exposure to sunlight is proved to be effective.
