周：我明白了！你有沒有過這樣的情況：別人控告你的記者，說他的報道失實？
胡：有的。不過這是很久以前的事了。事情是這樣的：一位足球運動員被指揮受賄，故意不進球，好讓對方球隊贏球。我們去采訪了他。他否認收了錢，但我們對此表示懷疑。於是，我們安排這名球員和被認為行賄的人一起接受采訪，而當我們看到他們在一起時，我們就從足球運動員的體態語上猜到他沒有說真話。我們寫了一篇文章，暗示足球隊員有罪。這事有些為難，因為如果我們錯了，他就可以向我們索要賠償。他竭力阻止我們發表這篇文章，但後來證實我們是正確的。

搶發獨家新聞
周陽剛剛采訪了一位著名影星回到辦公室，編輯就說：「快點把那篇報道准備好，我們這一版就要用，這樣我們就搶在其他報紙的前面了，這就是搶先的獨家新聞。「國際新聞編輯部有人提出問題：「他真的幹了那種事嗎？」周陽回答說：「是的，恐怕是這樣的。」接著他便著手准備報道了。
他的第一件事就是寫報道稿，他必須認認真真地寫。盡管他認為那個人一直在說謊話，但周陽懂得，他決不能直接指責那個人。他必須做到准確無誤，還要簡明扼要。他知道該如何做。經過幾個月的培訓，他已經學會了寫文章，全然沒有廢話。他在電腦前坐下就開始工作了。
