安妮在《天遣女王》里，簡克寶貝劈死自己父親的時候，引用了這個典故——源於十九世紀轟動美國麻省的兇殺案（按這里察看相關內容，英文，附照片）。莉茲·玻頓並非與簡克寶貝同年齡的小女孩，兇殺案發生時她已30歲。1892年8月4日中午，莉茲·玻頓叫喚她的鄰居說，她的父親被殺了，警察到來時，發現她的母親也死了。母親被斧子砍了18下，父親被砍了10下。消息立即被傳開了，媒體認為莉茲本人極有謀殺嫌疑。然而次年六月，法庭宣判莉茲無罪。此後，她的故事廣為流傳，被寫成了小說，芭蕾，百老匯，歌劇。最後是日本的教科書將她的童謠作為鵝媽媽童話收錄的。
