Three Good Friends
One day, a monkey rides his bike near the river. This time he sees a lion under a tree. The lion runs at him. He is afraid and falls into the river. He can』t swim. He shouts. The rabbit hears him. He jumps into the river. The rabbit swims to the monkey, but he can』t help him. Luckily, an elephant comes along. He is very strong. He helps the rabbit and monkey. Three friends are very happy. They go to the elephant』s home. Then, three of them become good friends.

風和太陽(The Wind And The Sun)
One day the wind said to the sun, 「Look at that man walking along the road. I can get his cloak off more quickly than you can.」
「We will see about that,」 said the sun. 「I will let you try first.」
So the wind tried to make the man take off his cloak. He blew and blew, but the man only pulled his cloak more closely around himself.
「I give up,」 said the wind at last. 「I cannot get his cloak off.」 Then the sun tried. He shone as hard as he could. The man soon became hot and took off his cloak.

A DOG, crossing a bridge over a stream with a piece of flesh in his mouth, saw his own shadow in the water, and took it for that of another Dog, with a piece of meat double his own in size. He therefore let go his own, and fiercely attacked the other Dog, to get his larger piece from him. He thus lost both: that which he grasped at in the water, because it was a shadow; and his own, because the stream swept it away.

The Old Cat
An old woman had a cat. The cat was very old; she could not run quickly, and she could not bite, because she was so old. One day the old cat saw a mouse; she jumped and caught the mouse. But she could not bite it; so the mouse got out of her mouth and ran away, because the cat could not bite it.
Then the old woman became very angry because the cat had not killed the mouse. She began to hit the cat. The cat said, "Do not hit your old servant. I have worked for you for many years, and I would work for you still, but I am too old. Do not be unkind to the old, but remember what good work the old did when they were young."
老貓

A man was going to the house of some rich person. As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road. He said, "I do not want to eat those apples; for the rich man will give me much food; he will give me very nice food to eat." Then he took the apples and threw them away into the st.
He went on and came to a river. The river had become very big; so he could not go over it. He waited for some time; then he said, "I cannot go to the rich man's house today, for I cannot get over the river."
He began to go home. He had eaten no food that day. He began to want food. He came to the apples, and he was glad to take them out of the st and eat them.
Do not throw good things away; you may be glad to have them at some other time.

The City Mouse and the Country Mouse
Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country; the other mouse lived in the city. After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, "Do come and see me at my house in the country." So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, "This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city."
The Country mouse went to the house of the City mouse. It was a very good house. Nice food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat they heard a great noise. The City mouse cried, " Run! Run! The cat is coming!" They ran away quickly and hid.
After some time they came out. When they came out, the Country mouse said, "I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. For it is nicer to be poor and happy, than to be rich and afraid."
城裡老鼠和鄉下老鼠
從前,有兩只老鼠,它們是好朋友。一隻老鼠居住在鄉村,另一隻住在城裡。很多年以後,鄉下老鼠碰到城裡老鼠,它說:「你一定要來我鄉下的家看看。」於是,城裡老鼠就去了。鄉下老鼠領著它到了一塊田地上它自己的家裡。它把所有最精美食物都找出來給城裡老鼠。城裡老鼠說:「這東西不好吃,你的家也不好,你為什麼住在田野的地洞里呢?你應該搬到城裡去住,你能住上用石頭造的漂亮房子,還會吃上美味佳餚,你應該到我城裡的家看看。」
鄉下老鼠就到城裡老鼠的家去。房子十分漂亮,好吃的東西也為他們擺好了。可是正當他們要開始吃的時候,聽見很大的一陣響聲,城裡的老鼠叫喊起來:「快跑!快跑!貓來了!」他們飛快地跑開躲藏起來。
過了一會兒,他們出來了。當他們出來時,鄉下老鼠說:「我不喜歡住在城裡,我喜歡住在田野我的洞里。因為這樣雖然貧窮但是快樂自在,比起雖然富有卻要過著提心吊膽的生活來說,要好些。」

在多年的教學工作中,我遇到過很多犯錯的學生,在教育學生中,我採用過很多教育方法,我覺得最有效的是無聲教育。相傳古代有位老禪師,一日晚在禪院里散步,看見院牆邊有一張椅子,他立即明白了有位出家人違反寺規翻牆出去了。老禪師也不聲張,靜靜地走到牆邊,移開椅子,就地蹲下。不到半個時辰,果真聽到牆外一陣響動。少頃,一位小和尚翻牆而入,黑暗中踩著老禪師的背脊跳進了院子。當他雙腳著地時,才發覺剛才自己踏上的不是椅子,而是自己的師傅。小和尚頓時驚慌失措,張口結舌,只得站在原地,等待師傅的責備和處罰。出乎小和尚意料的是,師傅並沒有厲聲責備他,只是以很平靜的語調說:「夜深天涼,快去多穿一件衣服」。全寺大眾,沒有人知道這一件事,仙崖禪師從來也沒有提起,但自此以後,全寺一百多個學僧,再也沒有人出去夜遊了。
其實以寬容的態度來對待犯錯的學生,悄悄的給學生一個改過的機會,比以嚴厲的批評教育更有效。有一年,我擔任三年級的班主任,班上有一個女同學小雨,她和我是鄰居,她還沒有讀書時,就我就很熟悉她,她頭腦機靈,思維敏捷。是個聰明的女孩子,可性格倔強,爭強好勝。她的爸爸在她讀一年級的時候就去世了,她媽媽忙於工作對她也就疏於教育,學習態度很差,作業馬虎,有時還不完成作業。因此雖有聰明的頭腦,學習成績卻一般。她讀三年級我是教她語文,在開學的第三天,就沒有完成作業,我為了讓她在新的學年裡有個好的開始,就找她進行了長談,給她講了很多道理。誰知過了一段時間,她又「舊病復發」一天早上,同學們都把已經做好的作業交到組長的桌子上,小雨沒有完成作業。她當然沒有作業交,就趁組長離開座位,悄悄的拿了小梅的作業本,把名字用透明膠粘掉,寫上自己的名字。然後又交到組長那裡。組長在把作業本拿到辦公室交給我的時候,告訴我小梅沒有交作業,我想小梅是個非常認真學習的學生,從來沒有不交作業的。我把組長交來的作業本逐一檢查一下,看見寫著小雨的名字的本子。寫名字的位置是被透明膠粘得薄薄的,我馬上明白了,是小雨把小梅的名字用透明膠粘掉,再寫自己的名字。因為小雨已經讀三年級,是不會寫錯自己的名字,再看看作業本里的字,端端正正,這分明是小梅的字,不是小雨的字。當時我很生氣,沒有完成作業已經不對了,還這么狡猾,小小年紀就學會偷梁換柱,我馬上去課室找小雨來教訓一頓,可是當我還沒有走到課室時,我突然間想起仙崖禪師的故事,心想她這樣做無非是不想挨批評,說明她的自尊心很強,這使我認識到,用簡單的批評方式,找家長是沒有什麼收效的,關鍵是要讓自己的話語感動她,使她佩服自己,聽自己的話。於是我就嘗試老禪師的做法,以鼓勵代替責備,以關懷代替處罰的教育方法。決定在發作業本的時候表揚她,讓她感受被老師賞識的快樂。我對她說:「小雨你這次作業的字寫得非常端正,是你寫的嗎?」她紅著臉低下頭小聲地回答「是。」我接著對她說,小雨你是個聰明的孩子,你看,只要你認真,就能把作業寫得那麼好,你那麼聰明,只要你再加把勁那你的成績一定比小梅的還好,相信你是不會令老師失望的。她看見老師沒有責備她,反而表揚她,相信她,就大聲地說,「我不會令老師失望的。」從她的話語中,我知道她這時很開心的,真的完成每一次作業,可能是恐怕做得不好,會被老師揭穿她的秘密。也可能真的下了決心,一定要信守諾言,不令老師失望。因此她發奮的學習,學習成績也進步神速。經過努力,她的成績在班上名列前茅。經常受到表揚,同學對她也刮目相看。從此她跟我成了好朋友好。
俗話說:「學壞容易學好難。」教育的事不是一蹴而就的,小雨在學習上克服了不完成作業的壞習慣。可她還有一個壞習慣就是隨便拿別人的東西,一個星期天的早晨,我在洗衣服的時候忘記把口袋裡的錢包拿出來,就把衣服放在水裡。結果錢包里的錢全濕了,我就把濕透的錢一張一張地展開放在桌子上,這時只有小雨在我家門口玩,我洗完衣服就上樓涼衣服,當我再下樓的時候,小雨走了,我桌子上的錢也不見了,我知道那一定是小雨所為,可我知道。如果直接問她有沒有拿了我的錢,以她的性格,她一定不會承認。我想,這一次,還是要給她一個台階下,以免挫傷她的自尊。我就走到她家門口,對她說;小雨,我放在桌子上的錢被風吹走了,你剛剛在我家門口玩看見我的錢吹那裡?幫我找找吧,她是個聰明的孩子,一聽我這樣說,就馬上答應幫我找。一會就說錢找到,一分不少的交給我,我對她說;你真是個聰明的好的孩子,這么快就幫我找回錢了。第二天回到學校,我在班上告訴同學們,小雨不但學習成績進步了,還樂意做好事,昨天撿到我的錢能交還給我,這時同學都向她投向贊許的目光。她開心的笑了。從此,再也沒有聽說她拿別人的東西了。後來還以優秀的成績考上重點中學。
這兩件事使我覺得對待犯錯應該以寬容的態度來對待,尤其是女同學。當然,寬容是有尺度,不是姑息從容。在教育犯錯的學生時,既要以寬容的態度來對待,在尊重學生自尊的前提下以適當的方式教育犯錯的學生,像那位禪師那樣以寬容的態度對待犯錯人,以關愛代責備,給學生一個下台階的機會。令他能感動,意識到自己的錯誤,並真心改正錯誤。我相信老師這樣教育學生,學生不但會自己改正錯誤,而且還會感謝老師的。
