Love Your Life (熱愛生活)
However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names.It is not so bad as you are.
It looks poorest when you are richest.The fault-finder will find faults in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is.
You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poor-house. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man's abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring. I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts, as in a palace.
The town's poor seem to me often to live the most independent lives of any. Maybe they are simply great enough to receive without misgiving. Most think that they are above being supported by the town; but it often happens that they are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means. which should be more disreputable.
Cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like sage.Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old, return to them.
Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.

When you are old
--- William Butler Yeats
When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
那柔美的光芒與青幽的暈影;
愛你日益凋謝的臉上的哀戚;

Hello, everyone.Today, I』m going to talk about Harry Potter.
Harry Potter had never played a sport while flying on a broomstick. He』s never worn a cloak of invisibility, befriended a giant, or helped hatch a dragon. All he knew was a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley. Harry』s room was a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hadn』t had a birthday party for ten years.
But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to a wonderful place he never dreamed existed. There he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic around every corner, but a great destiny that』s been waiting for him… if Harry can survive the encounter.
Now, I'm going to tell you some character I like most in the book.
Hermione Granger(赫敏·格蘭傑)
Hermione Granger is one of Harry』s best friend at Hogwarts. She is in Gryffindor house at Hogwarts. She had a bossy sort of voice, lots of brushy brown hair and rather large front teeth. She is a very smart girl (in fact, the best student in the year). She was born in September, 1980. She is a Muggle-born (a wizard or witch who has Muggle parents). In the end, she got married with Ron Weasley, and had two children called Rose and Hugo.
I like her because her hard working, cleverness and courage. But I think she is a bit narrow-minded. She dislike strange ideas and new thoughts.
Severus Snape(西弗勒斯·斯內普)
Severus Snape is my favorite character in the whole book. He is the potion master until Harry』s sixth year in Hogwarts, taught Defense against the Dark Arts in Harry』s sixth year, became the headmaster in Harry』s final year and was killed by Voldemort in the Same year. He had grease black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin.
Snape was born in 1960. His mother, Eileen Prince is a pure-blood witch while his father, Tobias Snape is a Muggle (human who does not have magic power). When Snape was young, his family was poor and his parents keeps shouting and yelling.
Snape knew Lily Evans, Harry』s mother since they were about nine. Snape loved her for nearly all his life. The two children spent most of their time talking: Hogwarts, Azkaban, the magical world and Snape』s family were their usual topic.
Snape and Lily were friends in the first five year in Hogwarts, but in their fifth year, after the Defence Against the Dark Arts exam, Lily and Snape had their worst quarrel. Lily blamed Snape for being friends with Death-Eaters, interested in Dark Arts and calling Lily』s friends 「Mudblood」, which is a disgusting name for a wizard or witch without magical parentage. But Snape juts let the word 「Mudblood」 slip. He loved Lily so much that he could give up his life for her.
On their seventh year, Lily started to go out with Snape』s worst enemy, James Potter. Later, they married and Lily gave birth to Harry.
Snape overheard Trelawnley』s prophecy and told Voldemort all he knew. But later, when he knew the boy in the prophecy means Lily』s son, Harry, he went to Dumbledore. He begged Dumbledore to save the Potters』 lives. Since that time, Snape joined the Order of the Phoenix and started to fight Voldemort.
Snape is a brave man. He fought Dark Arts for half of his life. He risked his life, betrayed his master, and hid his true feeling deeply in his heart. He had no friends. He done all these for Lily Evans, the woman he loved so much and who cared him so little.
That's all, thank you.

Before Two Portraits of My Mother
I love the beautiful young girl of this
portrait, my mother, painted years ago
when her forehead was white, and there was no
shadow in the dazzling Venetian glass
of her gaze. But this other likeness shows
the deep trenches across her forehead』s white
marble. The rose poem of her youth that
her marriage sang is far behind. Here is
my sadness: I compare these portraits, one
of a joy-radiant brow, the other care-
heavy: sunrise—and the thick coming on
of night. And yet how strange my ways appear,
for when I look at these faded lips my heart
smiles, but at the smiling girl my tears start.

HAMLET
To be, or not to be: that is the question.
Whether it's nobler in the mind to suffer
the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
and by opposing end them. To die,to sleep;
No more; And by a sleep to say we end
the heartache, and the thousand natural shocks
that flesh is heir to, it's a consummation
devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep.
To sleep, perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub
for in that sleep of death what dreams may come
when we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
must give us pause.
There's the respect that makes calamity of so long life
for who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
the oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
the pangs of despised love, the law's delay,
the insolence of office, and the spurns
that patient merit of the unworthy takes,
when he himself might his quietus make
with a bare bodkin? Who would fardels bear
to grunt and sweat under a weary life,
but that the dread of something after death,
The undiscovered country from whose bourn.
No traveller returns, puzzles the will,
and makes us rather bear those ills we have
than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,
and thus the native hue of resolution
is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
and enterprises of great picth and moment
with this regard their currents turn awry
and lose the name of action.

Saying Good-bye to Cambridge Again
Very quietly I take my leave
As quietly as I came here;
Quietly I wave good-bye
To the rosy clouds in the western sky.
The golden willows by the riverside
Are young brides in the setting sun;
Their reflections on the shimmering waves
Always linger in the depth of my heart.
The floating heart growing in the sludge
Sways leisurely under the water;
In the gentle waves of Cambridge
I would be a water plant!
That pool under the shade of elm trees
Holds not water but the rainbow from the sky;
Shattered to pieces among the ckweeds
Is the sediment of a rainbow-like dream?
To seek a dream? Just to pole a boat upstream
To where the green grass is more verdant;
Or to have the boat fully loaded with starlight
And sing aloud in the splendor of starlight.
But I cannot sing aloud
Quietness is my farewell music;
Even summer insects heap silence for me
Silent is Cambridge tonight!
Very quietly I take my leave
As quietly as I came here;
Gently I flick my sleeves
Not even a wisp of cloud will I bring away
正如我輕輕的來;
油油的在水底招搖;
悄悄是別離的笙簫;
正如我悄悄的來;

A poor farmer had a friend who was famous for the wonderful apple he grew. One day, his friend gave the farmer a young apple tree and told him to take it home and plant it. The farmer was pleased with the gift, but when he got home he did not know where to plant it. He was afraid that if he planted the tree near the road, strangers would steal the fruit. If he planted the tree in one of his field, his neighbors would come at night and steal some of the apples. If he planted the tree near his house, his children would take the fruit. Finally he planted the tree in his wood where no one could see it. But without sunlight and good soil, the tree soon died. Later the friend asked the farmer why he had planted the tree in such a poor place."What's the difference?" the farmer said angrily. "If I had planted the tree near the road, strangers would have stolen the fruit. If I had planted the tree in one of my field, my neighbors would have come at night and stolen some of the apples. If I had planted it near my house, my own children would have taken the fruit." "Yes," said the friend, "but at least someone could have enjoyed the fruit. Now you not only have robbed everyone of the fruit, but also you have destroyed a good apple tree!"

Lake of Autumn
I remember quite clearly now when the story happened. The autumn leaves were floating in measure down to the ground, recovering the lake, where we used to swim like children, under the sun was there to shire. That time we used to be happy. Well, I thought we were. But the truth was that you had been longing to leave me, not daring to tell me. On that precious night, watching the lake, vaguely conscious. You said:" our story is ending."
The rain was killing the last days of summer, you had been killing my last breath of love, since a long time ago. I still don't think I'm gonna make it through another love story. You took it all away from me. And there I stand, I knew I was going to be the one left behind. But still I'm watching the lake, vaguely conscious, and I know my life is ending.
