While he was eating, I asked him to lend me twenty pounds. 時間狀語從句，從句過去進行時，主句一般過去時。
To my surprise, he gave me the money immediately. 'I have never borrowed any money from you,' Tony said, 'so now you can pay for my dinner!'前一句是簡單句，一般過去時。後面用了兩個直接引語，把Tony的話直接放在這，顯得很生動。
